Run Forrest Run!
So I've been running like Forrest Gump for the past two months, averaging 25-30 miles per week. My goal was to lose the winter weight that I've put on. This year I managed to let the scales creep up to 186 on the worst day that I saw it. I should be under 175. So I set a goal for 170.0
Today I reached that goal. It fluctuates a lot when running, and this is near the bottom of a swing, but the scales don't lie.

Here's how I got there... My stats from Nike+:
I owe all this progress to the motivation derived from being involved in a couple of very competitive Nike+ challenges. One being the Affiliate Summit East 2010 Challenge...

The other being the EzineArticles 100 miles in 100 days challenge...

And while I'm very happy with how the numbers play out, 15 lbs in two months, I'm not really happy with the results. I feel like I'm losing muscle as well as fat, and there's still plenty of fat to go!
So I think I'm going to change things up.
The great news is that I've got my brain rewired to WANT to work out. Any day that I don't go for a run, I'm not happy about that. That's a good sign. But I need to do something different with both diet and with the workout regimen.
I'm going to switch from endurance cardio training to anaerobic workouts with weights and interval training and see if I can't get rid of the fat and tone up the muscles.
The bad news is that distance running on Nike+ doesn't really fit into that, and I'll fall quickly in the ranks. But that's not as important as getting the most out of the time I'm investing in these workouts.
We'll see how it goes and if I can keep up the motivation without my friends on Nike+.
